TerraClean is designed to reduce carbon deposits inside the engine and fuel system. By tackling build-up created during combustion, the treatment aims to help restore lost MPG, lower emissions and recover vehicle performance.
A Natural By-Product of Combustion.
Carbon deposits are produced naturally during combustion. Over time, those deposits can accumulate inside the engine and affect how efficiently it operates.

Good Maintenance Goes Beyond a Single Treatment.
The original TerraClean information states that keeping an engine properly decarbonised can improve fuel economy by around 4–15%.
It also highlights the importance of fixing underlying faults. For example, a faulty oxygen sensor can have a much larger impact on fuel economy than carbon build-up alone.
A Decarbonising Technology Discovered by Accident.
TerraClean originated from research by a group of environmentally conscious Canadian physicists who were attempting to develop an ultra-low-emission internal combustion engine.
Their test vehicles were fitted with a molecular injector and effectively operated the TerraClean system as part of the vehicle's fuel system.
When technicians later dismantled the test vehicles, they found very little evidence of carbon build-up.
Unsure whether this was simply due to the age of those vehicles, the same technology was applied to an older engine known to contain accumulated deposits.
After running the process and dismantling the engine again, the carbon that had accumulated over years of use was found to have been removed.
That led researchers to reverse-engineer the process and understand exactly why it cleaned the engine.
The technology was then developed specifically as a decarbonising solution capable of cleaning the engine and the wider fuel system.
